How egregious to tear down the center of a fast growing historical tourist town in middle Tennessee! People are coming here just like they go to Franklin for the charming character of the square!. It is becoming a “go-to” spot. History can be saved or restored but never replaced! It would be a tragedy to tear down that Court House. Find someone creative to make a new space and even for new agendas if necessary. The possibilities of using that building to draw more people to this area are endless! I know a great landscape architect to add design and trendy innovations to this area. I was recently in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida which was not an attractive or fun place to be 10 years ago. But they have redone some buildings and made incredible spaces that are bustling on the weekends with community members and tourists! Please don’t throw away a great opportunity for Gallatin. Keep the image growing!! And we can become the best place to live in middle Tennessee!! (I am not from here but due to being an Air Force brat, this has become home to me and I hope to retire here!)

In our part of the US, the public square courthouse is a valued part of our history. I didn’t grow up in Gallatin, but I did grow up in a small town near here that still has a public square courthouse. I believe it is important for people to come together and enjoy the public facilities central to the development of a community. A daily use public facility draws much needed traffic to the downtown area and is a vital part of the business community and culture of our area. I support the keeping of the courthouse on the public square in downtown Gallatin. Whether it be used as a public municipal building or other daily use facility to support the needs of the community.

Yes it is worth the money to fix the courthouse. If the money doesn’t get spent in Gallatin it is going to get spent in Hendersonville.
