Moving the courthouse would destroy the revitalized square. It is important to the history of the town and visually beautiful on the square. Refurbish it.

Gallatin is my childhood home. Although I moved away many years ago it is wonderful to see the courthouse and the square when I come back to visit. It would be a terrible thing for you all to take away what makes Gallatin great other than the people. The history and the beauty! Don’t change it so that people NO longer recognize the wonderful town Gallatin is.

Check the deed for the land of the court house. They tried this once before and found that the land ownership would revert back to the original owner or his heirs. Legal problem? Must hold court there. Keep one court room operational and use the rest to house the Sumner County Museum. Also check if it is listed with any group such as Historic Landmark, if so, it cannot be touched. Is there a “town hall” meeting set up? Where and when? Also, is any of the local TV stations on board? Have some time to volunteer if I can help.
